Signs You’re Overthinking (And How to Stop)

Do you ever catch yourself stuck in your own thoughts? Here are signs of overthinking.

You replay past conversations. You wonder if you said the wrong thing.

You struggle to make decisions because you overanalyze every outcome. You assume the worst case scenario, even though there’s no real reason to.

You second guess yourself constantly, even after making a choice.

Your thoughts feel like they won’t stop, which makes it hard to relax.

How to stop overthinking?

Try reality checking. Ask yourself, is this thought helping me or just making me anxious?

Try setting a time limit. Try giving yourself five minutes to think. Then move on, you can get it out of your head by writing it down and taking an action or simply trying to let it go.

Lastly, you can shift your focus, engage in something physical, like stretching or deep breathing.
