Ever replay something awkward you said over and over? Here’s how to move on instead of spiraling.
Hi, I’m Dr. Tom McDonagh, a psychologist at Good Therapy SF. We all have moments that make us cringe, but how you respond afterward can make the difference between letting it go or getting stuck.
So try to remember everyone has awkward moments. It’s part of being human. But what can you try to do?
First, try to notice the replay. When your brain keeps looping, pause and breathe.
Or you can try to reframe it. Ask yourself, “would I judge someone else this harshly?”
Or you can try to refocus, shift your attention to something that’s grounding or kind about yourself.
So if you often spiral after social moments, the therapist here at Good Therapy SF can help you out.
